  • Many Problems - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I am a five time Jeep owner. I test drove the new Grand Cherokee and fell in love with how it handles. After owning the car for one month, I began to have problems. The interior vinyl on the doors rips when bumped and I dont have kids! The car had four rust spots on the interior door frames. This problem had to be addressed twice. The exterior rubber molding was loose. The keys were not programmed correctly to my car which enabled the anti theft deterrent system. The car would stall over and over. My Laredo has been back to the dealer several times and has been kept up to two weeks for repairs. I suggest waiting to buy this new model until all the problems are corrected.

I bought a 2005 Laredo 4WD, trading in an old Cherokee. NO comparison - this one is light years ahead. Got a great deal at end of model year. No problems with car in first 4500 miles. Good mileage with V6 ... although it wont win many races. Quadra Trac is very easy to use, but not for off roading, as it is really a highway AWD system. Love this new Jeep, think they got early production bugs out before this one was built in May ... glad I bought American.

  • Weird check engine light situations - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Every other week the check engine light goes on, either I have a catalytic converter issue or it is just a short circuit. A lot of dangerous blind spots. I would fire the guys who designed the car, it looks like cheap plastic stuff. Nice to drive, even though wind noise unbearable when going over 60 mph.

Love my Jeep. Bought it used August 2011 and have had nothing but good from it so far. Everything worked when i got it, only thing that doesnt now is my rear park assist system, for some reason when i put her in reverse, all the red lights show up and it beeps, but thats it no big deal, cheap fix. Looks great, mean on the road ;) Great four wheel drive system, but thats expected from Jeep. Some people complain about the hard surfaced interior in areas but i love it because its durable and not cheap. My only complaint is wheres the snow? I live in Minnesota and its been a weak winter, hardly any snow. Thats the main reason i got this beast.

Handles great. Smoothest riding SUV Ive been in. The V6 is a bit sluggish but the fuel economy is good for a SUV. Everyone that sees it loves it. Tons of standard features.

  • 1st Jeep Grand Cherokee - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is my first Grand Cherokee, and I have not been overly impressed. The build is very good, not one rattle or squeak, however the transmission is very slow to change gears when you need to down shift. The 3.7l V6 has adequate power but would be nice if it had about 20 more horses. During the first 6 months, it spent a week in the shop due to check engine light, had to replace fuel rail and air conditioner compressor. Fuel mileage is about 23mpg on the highway, not bad for this size vehicle. Back seat is cramped for adults. Standard radio fair, should have upgraded to better unit. Not sure I would consider this vehicle again. Weak transmission.

I traded in my 1998 Range Rover for my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited w/5.7 Hemi. Ill never go back to a Land Rover brand vehicle.

Its fun to drive and has enough power to keep up with most cars on the road. The only slight thing Ive had was the air bag light came on a few times and then stopped.

  • Blind Spots - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

The Grand Cherokee performs and handles well with a comfortable seat. The main con that I have found with this vehicle is that even when you turn to check your blind spot when switching lanes, the blind spot is so bad that you still cant see! If forces you to rely on your mirrors. I would not put a child in my vehicle because of the fact that you should not rely solely on mirrors when driving. I suggest that Jeep go back to its original design so that I can see when I change lanes.

  • Enjoyable - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The vehicle is fun to drive and is excellent in snow. The 5.7 engine is awesome and power is always there when needed. This is my first Jeep and will not be the last. I have recommended Jeep to my friends looking for a new car. Of all the other SUVs on the market, I found the Jeep to be the best.
